Electrical Insulation & Power Generation Applications
Excellent electrical insulating properties, high mechanical strength, good dimensional stability, good moisture resistance, and arc resistance enable all Acculam® grades & forms to be used in many electrical equipment assemblies as spacers, arc chutes, shields, stand-offs, fuses, control panels & structural supports. They provide insulation-both thermal & electrical- for motors, generators, switchgear, wedges, brush holders, fuse cartridges, etc. Available in numerous sheet sizes and thicknesses and tubing in small to large diameters, these thermoset materials are easily machined into complex shapes that enable fit with almost any configuration. Some grades, such as Epoxyglas HT-ESD are modified to provide static dissipative properties that enhance test fixtures and work stations.
Aerospace, Heavy Equipment & Transport Vehicles:
Acculam® CE, CYB, & LE thermoset composites in all forms exhibit good wear characteristics in contact with metals under pressure and various temperature conditions. They are used in heavy equipment and transport vehicles as race bearing, flanges, gears, hydraulic wear rings, motor mounts, compressor vanes, doctor blades, etc. Other grades, such as G10, G11, FR4, G7 & GPO provide excellent electrical insulating and mechanical strength in isolating metal parts. Good dimensional stability and ability to handle temperature extremes from near absolute zero up to above 500F along with chemical resistance, excellent strength & light weight of these composites contributes to aerospace applications in framework, braking systems, thermal insulators, rocket motor casings and other uses.
Gaskets, Thermal Barriers, and Insulating Spacers
Acculam® G10, G11, FR4, FR5, G7, G3, L, C, X & XX sheet & tube finds applications as gaskets, thermal insulation, electrical barriers, shims and spacers in oil, gas, water & various pipeline applications as well as in motors, carburetors, etc. where both strength & seal capabilities are needed. New Matrix grade has excellent strength retention at high temperatures and can extend performance both in structural and insulation uses versus high performance thermoplastics that soften & lose strength and rigidity at high temperatures.
High Temperature Applications - Electric Arc Furnace and Welding Equipment
Acculam® Grades G7, G11, G9 & G10 tubing and sheet material find use in electrode insulating plates, induction heating coil forms, terminal blocks, platen insulation & bus insulation. G7, G10 & G11 tubing provide casings for induction heating impeders & Mig welding tip insulation. New Matrix grade offers great retention of strength at high temperatures up to 500F and can be used in place of High temperature thermoplastics where maintaining physical properties is paramount.
Cryogenic, Magnetic, & Laser Applications:
Acculam® G10, G10CR & G11 are the strongest of thermoset laminate materials and have excellent stability in the presence of water, chemicals, solvents & good-both high & low- thermal resistance. These properties allow uses in cryogenic, magnetic, laser, medical equipment, and chemical assemblies. G10 and/or XX tubing serves as rocket motor casings for pilot ejection seats, flares, practice munitions & a variety of military and ordinance applications.
